Rachel's Time at Summer Camp 2012
This summer I went to Open Bible Summer Camp with Journey Church. It was a week long and we would have a morning small group and an evening service with activities in between. This was my second year here. The first time I came, it was no big deal to me, I was just there for the fun and friends. There was a pool and a Snack Shack that everyone loved. I had met some new people that I had been hanging out with from last year.
In our “cabin”, after each service the girls from my youth group and our leaders would talk about what God had shown us during the message. I don’t remember all the details, but I didn’t have much to say the first two days. Everyone told me that Wednesday was the best day because it was the middle of the week there. I went to service every night telling God that I was ready for and expecting His presence. The first two nights were pretty normal, like worship at church. On Wednesday night, while we were worshiping, they stopped the worship team and had an altar call. I went up and prayed with Pastor Phil Tuttle from my youth group. When we were done, I went back to the spot where I had been worshiping. I don’t remember the song that was playing. I started shaking and I was crying. I was jumping up and down and I was being hugged by random people around me. I was praying and thanking God for filling me with his presence. It was the best experience ever.
During some of the activities we played soccer with a Zorb ball and I was run over and I passed out for like ten minutes. We also had zip lining. The food was good, there was a salad bar and a planned meal schedule each day. My favorite meal was the Mac'n'Cheese. Over all I had a good experience, I also have a lot of laughs to share. I plan on going to camp again next year.
